Motifs in Film

What is a Motif -

  • Repeated idea, image, pattern
  • Throughout a film
  • Helps reveal the theme of the text
 Three steps:

- Identify the reoccurring pattern
- Track the pattern
- Propose meaning from pattern or items in that pattern
